The Times of India Entertainment The American Cinematheque Award is typically awarded to an "extraordinary filmmaker in the entertainment industry, who is fully engaged in his or her work and is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion picture."
Besides her film work, Witherspoon is active in numerous charities, including Stand Up to Cancer and Children's Defense Fund, where she serves on the board.
