Rebel Wilson, known for her roles in "Pitch Perfect" and "Bridesmaids," opens up about a wild party invitation she received from a distant British royal family member in 2014. In her memoir "Rebel Rising," which hit bookstores in April 2024, Wilson shares the story of how she found herself at an unexpected party with a medieval theme that quickly turned into something much more shocking.
According to an excerpt published by PEOPLE, Wilson recounts how she was invited by a British royal who was “like fifteenth or twentieth in line to the British throne” to a tech billionaire's party near Los Angeles.
As she arrived, she was greeted by a lavish and eccentric scene. Men were jousting on horses, women dressed as mermaids were swimming in the pool, and the property was massive, with guests assigned rooms to stay overnight. Wilson also witnessed a spectacular fireworks display. Everything seemed like a fun, extravagant party until it took an unexpected turn.
Around 2 a.m., someone appeared with a large tray piled with what looked like candy. Wilson asked about the sweet treats, only to discover they were not candy at all; they were actually Molly, a form of MDMA, or Ecstasy. Her confusion was quickly cleared up when the screenwriter she was speaking with explained, "It's for the organization. The organizations normally start at these things about this time."
Realizing that the party was not what she had anticipated, Wilson knew she had to leave immediately. She recalled in her memoir, “Needless to say, I hike up my damsel dress and run out of there as fast as I can.” The situation clarified for Wilson that the comment about needing more girls wasn’t just about a typical party ratio—it was about something much more risqué.
In addition to this party anecdote, Wilson shares other stories in her memoir, including why she waited until she was 35 to have sex and how she was paid only $3,500 for her role in "Bridesmaids."
The story provides an intriguing glimpse into Rebel Wilson's Hollywood experiences, showing how even seemingly innocent invitations can lead to surprising and potentially uncomfortable situations.
