EastEnders actor and Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier is reportedly stepping away from the entertainment industry to dedicate a year to the Hare Krishna faith.
The 22-year-old, who has been immersing himself in religious activities, over the summer, is said to be planning a move to India later this year, following his exit from the BBC soap. According to The Mail, Brazier turned to the faith during a difficult period in his relationship with his father, Jeff, and younger brother, Freddy. Although family tensions have since eased, the report suggests he intends to continue his spiritual journey in India.
Hollywood celebs who follow Hinduism and practice Hindu traditions
A source told The Sun, “Bobby is really excited and happy about his move to India. He’s been telling everyone about it and preaching to them about why he is devoted to Hare Krishna."
His decision to pause his career at a time when he’s riding high on popular projects, has raised concerns for a few. According to the report, the hunk will take a break for "at least a year" before he returns to begin work again.
Willow Smith’s Krishna Connection
Bobby’s decision comes shortly after Hollywood star Will Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith, publicly embraced Hindu traditions during the festival of
Janmashtami. The singer took to her handle to share a new track, Govinda Nights, and also posted photos of herself offering aarti at an ISKCON temple, wearing a Vaishnav tika and scarf while posing before images of
Radha and Krishna.
In her Instagram post, Willow wrote, "<GOVINDA NIGHTS> OUT NOW!! THANK YOU @londrelle FOR FEATURING ME ON THIS MUSICAL OFFERING!! MY GRATITUDE IS INFINITE. HAPPY JANMASHTAMI.”
While Willow has embraced her own path, her family has diverse religious leanings. Her father has said he dislikes labels and her mother,
Jada Pinkett Smith, is associated with Scientology.
