Will Smith slaps Chris Rock

During the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith took offence to a joke made by Chris Rock about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Chris made a joke about the hairstyle of Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith that referenced the movie "G.I. Jane" in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head. Smith walked on stage and slapped Rock in what first appeared to be a scripted joke. But later Smith went back to his seat and shouted back, "Keep my wife's name out of your fu****g mouth."

When the Oscars went silent for Ukraine

For 30 seconds, the Oscars held silent for Ukraine. A tribute started with words from the Ukrainian-born Mila Kunis, and ended with the Academy Awards fading to black about midway through Sunday's show from Los Angeles, with a plea for anyone watching to do whatever possible to send help to those in the war-torn nation. "Recent global events have left many of us feeling gutted," said Kunis on the stage.

Celebs show support for Ukraine

The attendees at the 94th Academy Awards marked their presence on the red carpet by showing support for Ukraine, which has been facing a severe humanitarian crisis ever since Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale military operation there. Jason Momoa was spotted donning a handkerchief in the colours of the Ukrainian flag - blue and yellow - in his pocket, while Benedict Cumberbatch sported the Ukrainian flag colours, in a pin on his suit jacket.

Lady Gaga And Liza Minnelli's empowering moment

Lady Gaga And Liza Minnelli were one of the best presenting duos at the Academy Awards. They both were twinning in black. During the presenting speech, Gaga and Minelli held hands while the latter read her lines on the teleprompter, Gaga adorably lent over to her and supportively said 'I got you', later the Cabaret star sweetly added: ‘I know.’ We all need to see such empowering moments every now and then.
