Nikki Glasser, a quick-witted and sparkling stand-up comedian, is set to host the 82nd Golden Globes this Sunday night. She’s previously known for her special ‘Someday You’ll Die’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Bangin’ and ‘The Roast of Tom Brady’. The 40-year-old comedian is ready to be an entertainer for potentially the biggest night of her life, however, the risks are real.
Previous hosts of the annual award ceremony have been known for their classic appearances such as the duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais preceding them, yet last year’s Jo Koy’s vulgar joke about Barbie’s chest tanked too hard. Many viewers believe that the joke could’ve just been not vocalized.
Glasser, known for her smashing delivery, said “I feel really ready. I just know it’ll be killer,” quoted Variety. Not only is she the host of Golden Globes she is also nominated for her special ‘Someday You’ll Die’. When asked about her feelings, she voiced “Yes — you really like me. My Sally Field moment. But I just love being nominated. I was nominated for an Emmy; I’m nominated for a Grammy. I didn’t win an Emmy. Who knows if I’ll win? I just really like the nomination. I don’t like winning things. I like to be hungry and get close: It keeps me going.” she added “Also, after my category, I’m going to talk about what just happened. And the funnier thing is to lose.”
After the lawsuits around the film ‘It Ends With Us’ between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, which is the hottest topic to make jokes on right now. She marked, “I think the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni thing is such a hot-button thing right now that even a mere mention of it will seem like I could be on the wrong side of things, even though I would never be”, adding to this point, she said “I also don’t want to give his name any — I’m mad I even know his name, to be honest with you, so I don’t need to say it anymore.”, according to Deadline.
Glasser decided to stay away from political or any ‘dramatical’ jokes on her debut awards night. Marking her inaugural night as the host, she will be hosting the Golden Globes on Sunday night in Los Angeles.
