Ving Rhames, best known for his role as Luther Stickell in Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible' film series, reportedly collapsed while on a night out at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
As per a report on TMZ, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, while the 66-year-old actor was dining out with his family. A witness told the portal that Rhames suddenly collapsed at the table. He reportedly appeared to drift in and out of consciousness, prompting paramedics to rush him to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that a 'medical aid call' was received at approximately 1:40 pm for a man in his 60s. The patient was subsequently transported to a hospital for further care.
Ruling out any major cause of concern, a representative for Rhames later informed news outlets that the actor may have become “overheated” and is expected to make a full recovery. He remains under medical observation at the hospital.
Rhames is widely recognised for portraying Luther Stickell, opposite Cruise' Ethan Hunt, across all instalments of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise. His film credits also include roles in Pulp Fiction, directed by Quentin Tarantino, and the 1990 psychological horror film Jacob's Ladder.
Further updates on his condition are awaited.
Meanwhile, Tom Cruise's 'M: I' franchise was back in the headlines early this year, with rumours indicating that another film was on the cards. News reports suggested that Tom was working on 'Mission: Impossible 9', and that he reportedly sought out Oscar-winning writer-director Chloe Zhao to helm it. Prior to this, many believed 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' to be the final film for Cruise’s protagonist.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
