Mel Gibson shared that while he was on
Joe Rogan's podcast discussing his thoughts on civilization's end, his Malibu home was burning in the California wildfires. He was unaware of the fire’s impact at the time, as it spread quickly and endangered his property along with others in the area.
In a phone interview with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports, Mel shared that he felt uneasy during his conversation with Joe Rogan, as he knew his neighborhood was on fire. He wondered if his home had survived the flames. Unfortunately, when he returned, he discovered that his property had been destroyed.
While Gibson was recording his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast in Austin, wildfires were devastating the Los Angeles area. The fires spread quickly, causing extensive damage over a 25-mile stretch. The destruction resulted in over 10,000 buildings being destroyed, with seven confirmed fatalities, according to reports.
When Mel Gibson discussed the loss of his Malibu home, a visual of the aftermath was shown, revealing the ruins. The remnants included a low stone wall, chimneys with their fireplaces, some metal frames, and a small pile of charred bricks and rubble, highlighting the extensive damage caused by the wildfires.
Gibson described his home as being "completely toasted," stating that he had never seen a place so "perfectly burnt." The devastation left behind by the wildfires was profound, with almost nothing remaining except a few structural remnants.
Gibson shared that losing his home was a deeply emotional experience, as he had lived there for 14-15 years. He mentioned that the house contained personal items, including photographs and files, which are now gone and can't be replaced. The loss of these sentimental items added to the devastation.
