The 2024 Golden Globes provided a momentous occasion as Mark Hamill, iconic for portraying Luke Skywalker, finally met his on-screen mother, Natalie Portman, who played Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy. Despite their pivotal roles in the Star Wars franchise, the two actors never shared the screen until they were asked to present together at the award ceremony.

This meeting was not just a photo-op for fans; it marked the end of a comical, long-running feud. In June 2018, Hamill had tweeted that he had never met Portman, prompting her response on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, inviting him to come over. The banter continued on social media, with Hamill apologizing for being a 'thoughtless, ungrateful son.'

While Hamill had previously reunited with his on-screen father, Hayden Christensen, in 2017, the likelihood of seeing a family reunion on the big screen is minimal, as Hamill has expressed his final farewell to the character of Luke Skywalker.

Christensen, on the other hand, remains involved in Star Wars projects, expressing interest in further involvement. Portman is open to the idea of returning to the franchise if given the opportunity, as she mentioned in a GQ interview last May. The Golden Globes reunion holds special significance for fans who have eagerly awaited this Skywalker family connection.
