Irish singer and member of the iconic family group The Nolans, Linda Nolan, has passed away at the age of 65. She died peacefully in Blackpool, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer. Linda, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, faced recurrent challenges with the disease, which ultimately spread to her brain in 2023.
Her sister, Coleen Nolan, expressed her devastation in an emotional Instagram post, describing Linda as a “beacon of love, kindness, and strength.” She added, “Her wit, humour and laughter were infectious, and her presence could light up any room. We will miss her more than words can express, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.”

Linda’s death was confirmed by the family’s manager, Dermot McNamara, who revealed she had been admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital over the weekend with double pneumonia and passed away surrounded by her loved ones.
Celebrities and fans have been paying tribute to Linda Nolan, who was celebrated not only for her musical talents but also for her courage and advocacy. Her nephew, Shane Nolan, shared on X (formerly Twitter), “My beautiful Aunty Linda. Got to spend a few hours with her yesterday, which I’m very grateful for.”
Comedian Paul Elliott said he would “cherish” their four decades of memories, while singer Cheryl Baker described her as having “the most incredible voice and wicked sense of humour.”

Born in Dublin in 1959, Linda Nolan was the sixth of eight children in a musically inclined family. She rose to fame as part of The Nolans, known for hits like I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Attention to Me. Beyond her group performances, Linda enjoyed a successful solo career, touring with Gene Pitney and performing in musical theatre productions such as Blood Brothers.
Despite her health challenges, Linda remained active in advocating for cancer awareness. In her final months, she joined campaigns for life-extending drugs, such as Enhertu, to be made accessible to cancer patients.

Linda’s death comes 10 years after the passing of her sister Bernie Nolan, who also succumbed to breast cancer. Coleen, too, has faced her health struggles, recently revealing a battle with skin cancer.
Linda Nolan’s resilience and advocacy for breast cancer awareness have left an indelible mark. As Nikki Barraclough, CEO of Prevent Breast Cancer UK, stated, “She faced her diagnoses with incredible courage and helped break down barriers around breast cancer.”
