Lifelong Democrat George Clooney sends unexpected message to Donald Trump

George Clooney shared a sincere message of hope for Donald Trump, wishing him well for his second term as president. The two-time Oscar winner and lifelong Democrat made this unexpected comment during his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday.

Clooney, 63, shared that he grew up as a Democrat in Kentucky and joked that it had led to many interesting experiences in his life.

Clooney reflected on his voting history, recalling that his first vote in 1980 was for Carter, but Reagan won. He mentioned experiencing both victories and losses with different presidents, including the Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas. He acknowledged that this is the nature of democracy and how the system works.

Colbert playfully interrupted, jokingly asking Clooney how things turned out for him this time, pretending to forget which candidate he had supported.

Clooney, who backed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election after urging Joe Biden to step down, responded with humor, saying he wouldn’t resort to extreme actions like storming the Capitol. Accepting the outcome, he emphasized that disagreements are part of democracy and that most people can still get along and move forward.

Clooney used his seven-year-old son Alexander’s love for chess to highlight the importance of losing gracefully. He explained how his son competes against older kids and doesn’t always win but is taught to shake hands and say, “Good game, I’ll get you next time.” Indirectly addressing Trump, Clooney wished him well for the country’s sake and hinted at a political rematch in the future.
