This sparked major debate online, as the person who posted it claimed that someone from the production house had 'accidentally' emailed the clips to them. The person who shared the clips had also posted another message about how they will release the entire film online if the production house does not release the trailer for the animated film soon enough.Julia Schoel, one of the credited animators on the film took to social media as well to share her thoughts, revealing how discouraging the leak was to her and other artists who worked on the film. She commented, “We worked on the aang movie for years with the expectation that’d we’d get to celebrate all of our hard work in theaters, just to see people unceremoniously leak the film and pass our shots around on twitter like candy.” She also called out the studio for justifying the streaming release and disrespecting all of the animators' hard work by cancelling it from a theatrical release. The incident happened soon after many fans and netizens alike expressed their disdain over the film's release. While many pointed out that the film should have been slated for theatres, it was later on confirmed that it would be directly released on OTT platforms. Earlier on, the film was meant to hit theatres on October 10, 2025, however the production house delayed the release to January 2026. Later on, Deadline reported that the theatrical release of the animated film has altogether been cancelled. They confirmed in their reports that the film will now officially be released on streaming platforms directly in October 2026. The animated film follows the story of Avatar Aang, who learns of an ancient power that can help his tribe and culture avoid falling into extinction. The film follows him and all his friends on the journey to find the power before it falls into the hands of evil.At the time of writing, the leak remains under investigation, and the production house has not issued any official comments.
