The ‘Knives Out’ franchise has become one of Daniel Craig’s most loved projects. With the third installment titled ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ slated for a November (theatrical) and December (OTT) release, the actor opens up on his role and connection to the films, and what does the future hold for the franchise as well.

Daniel Craig opens up about the ‘Knives Out’ franchise

The latest film in the ‘Knives Out’ franchise was recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6 and brought forth a lot of praise for Craig, who plays the role of Benoit Blanc. The actor, while in conversation with People, shared that he feels “lucky” to have landed such a role after his successful role as the one and only James Bond. “That's all I can think of when I think about this character. I mean, I've played Bond, and now I'm suddenly playing Benoit Blanc. It's dumb luck. I'm very lucky,” he adds on. When asked about whether the third film marks the end of the beloved mystery franchise or not, the actor ended up saying, “Who told you that? Listen, I don't know. Rian hasn't written anything because we're getting this movie out. (If the director) writes another script and it's as good as I think it probably will be, then it's an easy decision.”
While there has been no confirmation about another ‘Knives Out’ film, a 2022 Variety interview cited a quote from the director of the films, Rian Johnson, who said at the time that as long as he and Daniel Craig have fun with the films, he’ll keep on making them for as long as he is “allowed to.”He added, "If each one of these can really be what Agatha Christie did, if it can be not just in a totally new location and with a new cast, but also trying something exciting, I'll keep doing it”.
