Kevin Bacon's plea to wedding DJs: "No more 'Footloose,' please!"

Kevin Bacon, the lead actor in the cult classic 1984 movie ‘Footloose,’ is issuing a sincere plea to wedding DJs across the globe: please, for goodness' sake, do not include the Footloose soundtrack on the playlist.

In a recent interview with Variety, Bacon made public the laughable, yet somewhat uncomfortable, motivation for his plea. As much as he's proud of the film itself and its standing as a perpetual favorite, he's discovered its use at weddings has the odd side effect of making him the focus of unwanted attention.

"My worst fear is to be at a wedding and the DJ plays the song," Bacon admitted. He said that although the song initially gets played for the bride, things always get out of hand as the night wears on. "They always begin about the bride, and then there's booze in the mix," he added, describing wedding receptions getting more raucous as the night wears on.

Bacon continued, "And by about 10:30, the song comes on, and suddenly the wedding becomes about me getting out and dancing. People will literally form a circle around me and clap their hands like I'm a trained monkey."

Imagine being at a wedding, trying to enjoy the celebration, only to have the spotlight suddenly shift to you as everyone expects you to recreate your famous Footloose moves. It's understandable why Bacon would want to avoid this scenario.
To prevent the awkwardness, Bacon has taken to directly requesting DJs to refrain from playing the Footloose tracks. "It's not because I don't love the song; I do love this song. It's not because I'm not proud of the movie; I'm 100 percent proud of it," he clarified.

He acknowledges that the film brought him the success he dreamed of, so he only has himself to blame.
Despite his aversion to Footloose at weddings, Bacon remains appreciative of the film's impact. In a previous interview, he even expressed openness to the idea of a Footloose reboot, showing that he still cherishes the movie that launched him to stardom.
