Katy slammed for copying 'I Kissed a girl'
An American singer/songwriter has lashed out at pop star Katy Perry and called her a f***ing little slut" for allegedly copying her track I Kissed a girl.
Jill Sobule had apparently released a song with the same title in 1995 but with different music and lyrics.
"So here goes, for the first time in an interview...F*** you Katy Perry, you f***ing stupid, maybe not good for the gays, title thieving, havent heard much else, so not quite sure if youre talented, f***ing little slut," the Sun quoted her as telling TheRumpus.
The singer insists that she never meant to criticize other artists but she couldnt help it, as she felt jealous after the song hit the top of the charts.
She said: "As a musician I have always refrained from criticizing another artist. I was, Well, good for her.
"It did bug me a little bit, however, when she said she came up with the idea for the title in a dream. In truth, she wrote it with a team of professional writers and was signed by the very same guy that signed me in 1995.
"I have not mentioned that in interviews as I dont want to sound bitter or petty, because thats not me. Okay, maybe, if I really think about it, there were a few jealous and p***ed off moments."
Sobule explained the situation after Perry came out with the song.
She added: "When her version came out I started getting tons of inquiries about what I thought.
"Some folks were angry and wondered why she took my title and made it into this kind of girls gone wild thing.
"Others, including my mother, were excited because they thought I would somehow make some money out of it. Unfortunately you cant copyright a title... bummer.".
