Jonathan Bailey opens up about the impact that ‘Brokeback Mountain’ had on him

The star from ‘Wicked: For Good’ recently shared that the release of ‘Brokeback Mountain’ once inspired him so much that he completely changed the topic of one of his dissertations that he did in his schooling days. Talking with Esquire U.K. on November 10, the actor shared that he was “completely activated” after watching ‘Brokeback Mountain’, and how how actually went back again and again to watch the film as well. The film also inspired the star to change his dissertation topic when he was in 6th form, and instead write about the representation of homosexuality in film. He further added, “For my dissertation, I started writing about the representation of Hutus and Tutsis in films about the Rwandan genocide. Then Brokeback Mountain came out. I can’t remember if I just wanted a reason to go back 10 more times to see it. Overnight, I decided to make my dissertation about the representation of homosexuality in the film.
He revealed that he wrote the dissertation when he was studying in Magdalen College School in Oxford, England, and that his mentor, for whose class he wrote it, fully supported him on the topic change and shared that he might be ‘onto something.’ “I got a very good mark on that fastidiously researched essay," Bailey further joked and added.
