has said the

actor

's role in 'The Dark Knight' was not responsible for his untimely death from a prescription drugs overdose in 2008.

Ledger's sister refuted the claims that the actor was suffering from mental health issues at the time of his death.

    "I was really shocked, because that was him (Ledger) having fun. Every report was coming out that he was depressed and that (the role) was taking this toll on him, and we're going, honestly, it was the absolute opposite. It couldn't be more wrong.

    "He had an amazing sense of humour, and I guess maybe only his family and friends knew that, but he was having fun. He wasn't depressed about the Joker!" Kate said at the premiere of 'I Am Heath Ledger' at the Tribeca Film Festival.

    added, "I hope it's an antidote to a lot of the gossip that exists in the world. There are some really terrible things about Heath out there."

    Ledger was 28 when he was found dead in his

    New York

    apartment on January 22, 2008, barely months before the release of the Christopher Nolan film.

    The actor was awarded the 2009 Oscar for best supporting actor for the film posthumously.

    Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, who was popularly known as Silk Smitha, committed suicide by poisoning herself in 1996. While many believe she was murdered, depression and addiction to alcohol have been cited as reasons for her untimely death.
    The Bollywood director of iconic movies like as Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Parvarish and Aa Gale Lag Ja, Manmohan Desai fell off his residence building at Grant Road in Mumbai and died. His death created much curiosity as his films. Reasons behind his actual nature of his death are still masked in mystery.
    Parveen Babi lived a lonely life and died a rather sad death at her flat in Mumbai on Janaury 20, 2005. Nobody knows for certain whether she committed suicide or if she died a natural death.
    Actress Priya Rajvansh was found murdered in 2000 and the case was initially written off as a suicide. Later, it was established that she had been killed by her late husband Chetan Anand’s children for property.
    ‘Dil Hi Dil Mein’ actor Kunal Singh was found hanging at his residence in Mumbai on 2008. His death caused quite a wave in the industry as his father asserted that his son Kunal had not committed suicide rather he was murdered.
