Now, as per the latest report by The Hollywood Reporter, actors Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are set to join the cast of the much-celebrated film.

The report also stated that Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who was part of the original film, is also set to make a return to the film series after 28 years. Murphy was still a newcomer in the industry, and his performance earned him appreciation from critics and fans alike.

Recently, on the occasion of celebrating the film's 20th anniversary, Murphy and Boyle revealed that they have often sparked discussions over a sequel to this series. Murphy mentioned that he felt he had outgrown the role, while Boyle revealed that Garland had a script prepared, initially titled 28 Months Later, a few years ago, but it didn't progress any further.

Meanwhile, 'The 28 Days Later' franchise played a crucial role in revitalizing the zombie genre, paving the way for films such as the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake, comedies like 'Shaun of the Dead', and the ever-expanding 'Walking Dead universe'.
