Joaquin Phoenix donates signed Joker poster to support Gaza fundraiser

Joaquin Phoenix, known for his role as the Joker, is lending his support to a noble cause by donating a signed poster of the iconic film. The poster is part of an auction organized by Cinema for Gaza, aimed at raising funds to aid those affected by the conflict in Gaza.


The auction, which features a variety of celebrity donations, received the generous contribution of a signed Joker poster from Phoenix himself. Additionally, Phoenix donated another signed poster for the film You Were Never Really Here, which he starred in alongside director Lynne Ramsey. Both posters are now up for grabs to the highest bidders.

Phoenix's donation joins a host of other items, including personalized experiences with celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Maisie Williams, Brian Cox, and Louis Theroux. The proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting Medical Assistance for Palestinians (MAP), an organization dedicated to providing medical aid to Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.

MAP not only offers immediate assistance to those in need but also focuses on developing local healthcare capacity to ensure long-term support for the Palestinian healthcare system. The organization is currently responding to the urgent medical needs arising from the crisis in Gaza.

Phoenix's gesture comes amidst the excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel to Joker, titled Joker: Folie à Deux. The film, featuring Phoenix reprising his role as the Joker alongside Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, has garnered significant anticipation. With the trailer recently released, interest in the franchise is at an all-time high.


The signed Joker poster, currently attracting bids starting at £1,500 ($1,884), symbolizes Phoenix's commitment to supporting humanitarian causes. As the bidding continues, it is expected that the poster's value will increase, further contributing to the fundraising efforts for Gaza.
