Almost a month after director
Todd Phillips first teased that the first trailer will arrive in April, reports now confirm that the team is sticking to the schedule and will likely release the clip on April 9. The first trailer for 'Joker 2' will reportedly be unveiled at CinemaCon set to take place next month, thus fueling anticipation among fans.
On the occasion of Valentine's Day, Phillips teased fans with romantic stills from the movie featuring Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and Gaga as Harley Quinn. Eager followers wasted no time in inquiring about the release date of the first trailer, prompting Phillips to respond, "Been getting this question a lot. The movie comes out in October. So our first teaser won’t be out until mid-April."
The sequel will see the famed DC villain return in what is poised to be as an Elseworlds franchise. 'Joker: Folie A Deux' stands out as the lone live-action DC movie scheduled for release this year, much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has also put up only 1 movie - 'Deadpool and Wolverine' for release in 2024.
Recent reports indicate a potential clash at the box office, as 'Joker 2' is poised to go head-to-head with 'Venom 3', starring Tom Hardy. The third instalment of the superhero franchise is slated for release on October 25, 2024. Although Joker will have a head start, the release of 'Venom 3' could eat up into its lifetime collections.
'Joker 2' has a lot to live up to as the first part crossed the $1 billion mark, becoming the first R-rated film to cross this milestone. The sequel said to be a musical, will also have to live up to the film's critical acclaim that made it a top contender at the Oscars. The film was even nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.
