Searchlight Pictures has announced that its widely praised drama, A Real Pain, will release in India on January 17, 2025. Directed and written by Jesse Eisenberg, the Academy Award nominee also stars in the film alongside Emmy and Golden Globe winner Kieran Culkin.
The story of A Real Pain focuses on two cousins, David (played by Eisenberg) and Benji (played by Culkin), who travel to Poland to honor their late grandmother. While their journey begins as a way to connect with their family’s roots, it soon turns complicated as unresolved tensions between the two come to the surface. Set against the backdrop of their family’s emotional history, the film explores themes of self-discovery, family bonds, and the weight of memory.
The movie, which was an official selection and award-winner at the Sundance Film Festival, features an impressive supporting cast. This includes BAFTA winner and Emmy nominee Will Sharpe, Golden Globe nominee Jennifer Grey, Kurt Egyiawan, Liza Sadovy, and Daniel Oreskes.
Eisenberg explained that the film’s universal themes of family and remembrance have struck a chord with audiences globally, making its release in India a significant moment. He noted that A Real Pain balances humor with emotional depth, offering a story that resonates with people of all backgrounds.
Indian audiences can expect the film to be available in English across theatres. With its rich storytelling and strong performances, A Real Pain promises to leave a lasting impression.
Searchlight Pictures has called the release an important step in bringing more diverse and meaningful films to Indian cinema lovers. Fans of emotional dramas and character-driven narratives can look forward to experiencing this heartfelt story on January 17, 2025.
