Jake Gyllenhaal, who was passed over for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy, expresses that portraying the iconic superhero would be an honor for him.

When asked during the promotion of the Prime Video action movie 'Road House' if he still had interest in portraying Batman, In his response, Gyllenhaal said, "Oh, man. That's a classic . It's an honour."

Describing the Batman role as classic, the actor told Screen Rant, "Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past."

"When I think about it, I'm going to play Iago in 'Othello' with Denzel Washington, and I think about the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I'm intimidated by that. So that's the first level. That's what I'm working on right now. But of course. It would be an honour always. Those types of things and those roles are classics."

David S. Goyer, known for his work on 'Batman Begins' and co-writing the script for Nolan's trilogy, recently confirmed rumors that Gyllenhaal was his personal choice to portray Batman.

Gyllenhaal later joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villain Mysterio opposite Tom Holland in the 2019 superhero film 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'.

Robert Pattinson currently portrays Batman on the big screen in Warner Bros.' 'The Batman' films directed by Matt Reeves.

Also, the actor will soon be chosen to lead 'Batman: The Brave and the Bold', directed by 'The Flash' director Andy Muschietti. This film marks Batman's official entry into the new universe being crafted by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Pattinson's Batman, set to return in 'The Batman II' in 2026, remains its own standalone franchise.
