Jacob Elordi’s rise to popularity following the release of ‘The Kissing Booth’ and the first season of ‘
Euphoria’ has been unprecedented. Many have celebrated the actor for his on-screen presence; however, in a recent interview, filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar commented on whether all of this fame and success for the actor will last or not.
Read ahead to know more about what the ‘Pain and Glory’ director had to say about Jacob Elordi and his rise to fame.
Pedro Almodóvar on Jacob Elordi’s popularity
While featuring on the ‘La Pija y la Quinqui’ podcast, the famed Spanish filmmaker and screenwriter opened up about his thoughts on ‘Euphoria’ star, Jacob Elordi. He opened up about how he believes that Elordi is on track to become a major star in the market if he continues to work extensively.
Elordi recently garnered a lot of praise for his role in ‘Wuthering Heights’ opposite Margot Robbie, as well as ‘Frankenstein’ opposite Mia Goth. Though the director felt that neither of the films did not challenge him enough as an actor. While ‘Wuthering Heights’, according to him, was not good, he pointed out that ‘Frankenstein’ was another comfortable role for Elordi.
The director further pointed out that he wishes to see Elordi in a more challenging and demanding role before making proper comments about him. “I’ve been wondering whether he’s just a sex symbol or a respected actor,” he added on, further sharing that, “We need to see him - or at least I do - in another role that demands more of him.”
Jacob Elordi’s work profile
The actor has most recently reprised his role as Nate Jacobs in the third season of ‘Euphoria’ opposite names such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie, to name a few. He will next appear in ‘The Dog Stars’ opposite Margaret Qualley and Josh Brolin.
This is a sci-fi film made by Ridley Scott, and it explores how humans survive the apocalypse. The film focuses on a group of people who travel into barren lands after surviving an apocalypse to find the origin of a mysterious radio transmission. It is slated to be released in August this year.
