The teenage younger sister of pop star Britney Spears has given birth to a baby girl, sources close to her family told
People magazine.
Jamie Lynn Spears, who was 16 when she announced her pregnancy last December, provoking a tabloid firestorm in the US about teenage sex, gave birth at a hospital in Mississippi, People reported. "Just the family was there," a source told People."Everyone is healthy and happy."
Jamie's spokesman was not immediately available for comment. The actress held up as a role model for young teens for her part in the popular US television series "Zoey 101," has named the child Maddie Briann. People reported that Jamie's elder sister Britney, father Jamie and brother Bryan flew to Louisiana to help prepare for the birth.
Jamie Lynn Spears announced her engagement to the baby's father, 19-year-old Casey Aldridge, in March.
