In March of that year, Hailey revealed she was hospitalized for a blood clot in her brain after she noticed one side of her face was numb. She believes the situation made her “a little bit extra hyper aware” of her body.

In the February 18 episode of Jake Shane’s ‘Therapuss’ podcast, the 29-year-old model shared about the change. Hailey Bieber said, “I think that situation made me a little bit extra hyper aware of my body, a little bit more nervous about things and staying on top of them.” Adding that the series of events is what made her start Rhode, Hailey Bieber said “I’ve just always been really focused and fascinated on health, and it was also kind of what led me to want to do Rhode. My obsession with skincare also comes from my obsession with medicine.”
