'Inside Out 2' star Amy Poehler wants more sequels

The success of the 2015 film 'Inside Out made a sequel inevitable, and now, 'Inside Out 2' is set to continue the journey into the mind of Riley, the young protagonist. Amy Poehler, who voices the character of Joy, believes there's potential for even more films in the franchise.

In an interview with Empire, Poehler discussed the idea of creating a series of films that track Riley's emotional evolution throughout her life. She suggested exploring Riley as a young adult, a young mother, and even a middle-aged person, acknowledging that people experience new emotions throughout their lives.

Meanwhile, the expectations for ‘Inside Out 2’ are high, considering the first film's immense popularity and critical acclaim. Poehler, reflecting on the first movie, said, "It was super-emotional, and I felt so proud to be in it.’ Despite the pressure of creating a sequel, she was enthusiastic about returning for a second installment, emphasizing that "you can't let that fear stop you from the action. You have to act.’

Further, director Kelsey Mann explained the creative process behind developing Riley's belief system for the upcoming movie, noting that as she grows into a teenager, her beliefs will evolve. "What if we actually hear Riley say her beliefs in her own voice?" He added that the same applies to less positive beliefs, where the emotions behind them are equally important.

‘Inside Out 2’ will see the return of several original cast members, including Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger. New characters and emotions will also join the cast, such as Kensington Tallman as Riley Andersen, Liza Lapira as Disgust, Tony Hale as Fear, and Maya Hawke as Anxiety. It is scheduled for release in theaters worldwide on June 14.
