Morgan Freeman is the latest in a long list of Hollywood celebrities to visit Banaras. The Oscar winning actor was on a hush-hush trip to the city earlier this week for the shooting of a documentary on faith and theology. Known for films like Million Dollar Baby, Shawshank Redemption and Street Smart, Freeman is covering Hinduism and Buddhism in the Varanasi leg of the shoot. He also visited Bodh Gaya in Bihar earlier.READ: India comes calling for Hollywood celebs In Banaras, Freeman shot at the Lalita Temple, the Dashashwamedh Ghat where the famous Ganga Aarti is performed, and also in the lanes of Scindia Ghat. For the Buddhism part of the shoot, the actor shot in some areas in Sarnath.
According to Raj Kumar Singh, tour operator who managed the actor's visit to Banaras, “Mr Freeman was delighted to be in Varanasi. He especially enjoyed the boat ride on the River Ganga and the Ganga Aarti. During his stay, History professor Binda Paranjape of Banaras Hindu University, gave him the required inputs on both the religions,” he said.
