Joker

’, starring Joaquin Phoenix, has smashed box office records across the globe. The film, which has received critical acclaim, is said to be close to breaking the $1 billion mark at the box office. In a recent interview, director Todd Phillips revealed that there was a particular scene in the theatrical cut of the film that was not included because he thought it was too ‘insane’.
He added that on days when the shoot would end early, Joaquin and he would do something that they referred to as a study of insomnia. The two would dabble in some fun things and set up cameras to capture them. For instance, they light up a kitchen or do something by the sink or the fridge. The scenes were not part of the script, said Phillips, just something that Joaquin did. For one scene, which was eventually added in the film, Joaquin is seen laughing after going into

Zazie

’s apartment. And he returns to the hall and laughs alone in the living room. Phillips said that they also shot an amazing scene in a bathtub, but decided against including it in the final cut since it was an R-rated movie and the scene was too graphic.
While ‘Joker’ has got good reviews, many people also felt uncomfortable with the film. It won the

Golden Lion

award at the Venice International Film Festival.
