During this year's New York Comic-Con, a groundbreaking announcement has sent ‘Dragon Ball’ fans into a frenzy - as a brand new addition to the ‘Dragon Ball’ universe has been introduced, known as ‘Dragon Ball Daima’. This upcoming anime spin-off is poised to deliver a unique adventure for Son Goku and his fellow Z-Fighters, who find themselves on an extraordinary journey after a mysterious conspiracy transforms them into children.
Distinguished from its Dragon Ball predecessors, Dragon Ball Daima takes a bold departure by introducing an entirely fresh storyline that is not derived from any existing manga. In this series, Goku and the Z-Fighters traverse the universe, seeking a means to restore themselves to their adult forms, all the while confronting unforeseen challenges. Series creator Akira Toriyama, in a letter to fans, described it as "a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world."
Further, in the trailer of the show, which was unveiled during the convention, a glimpse of the vibrant and youthful cast, with iconic characters like Goku, Mr. Satan, Vegeta, and Master Roshi reimagined as children has been featured. Though comparisons have been drawn between ‘Daima’ and ‘Dragon Ball GT,’ the former sets itself apart and promises an experience for the fans that will leave an impression on their hearts.
Scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2024, Dragon Ball Daima will occupy a distinctive spot in the timeline of the franchise. The series unfolds after the defeat of Kid Buu but before the introduction of Beerus and Whis, marking an uncharted period in the Dragon Ball universe. Sources have confirmed that transformations such as Ultra Instinct, Super Saiyan God, and Super Saiyan Blue will not be part of this narrative.
