About ‘Highlander’
The project has spent a decade in the making as filmmaker
Chad Stahelski worked on creating this and taking the lead as well. The upcoming film is a retelling of the classic from the 1980s. Some of the other cast members that have been confirmed to join Cavill on screen include, but are not limited to,
Russell Crowe from ‘Gladiator,’ Dave Bautista from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’
Marisa Abela from ‘Back to Black,’
Karen Gillan from ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,’ Djimon Hounsou from ‘Blood Diamond,’ and Max Zhang from ‘Ip Man 3.’
The script for the new film has been written by none other than Michael Finch, who is responsible for projects like ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ ‘Hitman: Agent 47,’ ‘Predators,’ and ‘The November Man.’ The film tells the tale of an ongoing war between a number of immortal warriors who will do anything and everything to win. The film tells the story of these warriors through various timelines, skipping from past to present and vice versa.
The original film of the franchise has Connor MacLeod in the lead. Henry Cavill, who will be taking the lead in the new film, has teased the role previously. During his segment at Comic Con 2024, the actor had teased fans about the project by saying, “If you think you’ve seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
