​Halle Berry opens up about a break from dating after split from Olivier Martinez

Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry has opened up about the intentional pause she took from dating following her separation from ex-husband Olivier Martinez.

In a candid interview with Marie Claire, Berry reflected on the three-year "sabbatical" she embarked on after their split, which helped her reconnect with herself and redefine her approach to relationships.

Berry, who was married to Martinez for two years, revealed that while she had always been deliberate about her career, she hadn’t applied the same level of clarity to her love life. “I was intentional about my success and always knew I would achieve it, but I wasn’t as mindful in my relationships,” Berry shared, admitting that she had been more relaxed in her romantic decisions. She emphasized the importance of being clear about one’s intentions when it comes to relationships, adding, “If you’re not, any old thing will find you.”

During her dating hiatus, Berry spent time engaging in self-reflection. She attended therapy, travelled to India, and studied meditation as part of her journey to better understand herself. Through this period of growth, she identified the qualities she wanted in a romantic partner, which eventually led her to her current relationship with musician Van Hunt.

Interestingly, Berry’s connection with Hunt came through his brother, whom she had known for years. Once Berry felt she had gained insight into her personal choices, Hunt’s brother suggested that she should meet him, and the rest is history.

On the professional front, Halle is set to star in 'Never Let Go,' scheduled for release on September 20, 2024.
