but also a true collaborator who brings her own magic to the film making process.

The big screen adaptation of the coming-of-age period drama by Louisa May Alcott reunites Gerwig with Ronan, who earlier collaborated on the director's 2017 debut 'Lady Bird'.

"I'm so blessed to work with (Saoirse) twice. She's such a filmmaker as an actor. She's like a barometer of that truth that rings true," Gerwig told a US magazine of popular culture, fashion.

While Ronan, who plays Jo in the film, said she looks up to the director.

"In the truest sense of the word, I just idolise her," the actor said.

Ronan stars opposite her 'Lady Bird' co-star Timothee Chalamet, who essays the role of Laurie.

'Little Women' also stars Laura Dern, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Meryl Streep, Bob Odenkirk and James Norton.
