It was the moment that everyone at the Dolby The atre in Hollywood was waiting for. Even before presenter Julianne Moore finished announcing Leonardo DiCaprio's name for the Best Actor award, the audience was on its feet, cheering and clapping for DiCaprio. The whole world was happy (and relieved) that after six nominations, Leo won his first ever Academy Award in the last 20 years! Amidst all the celebrations though, there were things that made Leo's win memorable.

STANDING UP FOR A CAUSE

While the Oscars earned All White', flak for being ` the actual ceremony had its share of support for certain causes. Sam Smith dedicated his award to the LGBT community and called for treating everybody as equals and Leo spoke about a cause very close to his heart -climate change. When not filming, the actor is busy spreading awareness about climate change and he surely wasn't going to miss out on speaking about the same when the eyes of the world were on him. Sharing how The Revenant was about man's relationship with nature, Leo went on to say , `Climate change is real and it's happening right now.It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating'.He concluded his acceptance speech with `Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted.Thank you so very much'.

RIP MEMES! YOU ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED

As expected, the Oscars were trending on social media and hundreds of memes about Leo haath ko aaya, muh na laga moments did the rounds. Soon after his win, another set of memes started popping up which had congratulatory messages and GIFs. The best among these was a meme that put to rest Leo's Oscar memes.

OSCAR AT 87!

Like Leo, he's been nominated for the Oscars five times in the competitive category . Ennio Morricone, 87, won Best Original Score for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. This puts him in the oldest Academy Award winners' list which includes Charlie Chaplin (83), Christopher Plummer (82), Henry Fonda (76), Jessica Tandy (80), Clint Eastwood (74) and Geroge Bernard Shaw (82).

Though Morricone has won an Honorary Oscar in 2007, this is thefirst competitive win for the Italian composer, whose works include soundtracks for The Mission and The Untouchables.
