'Ghost in the Shell' pacifies whitewashing controversy by signing Japanese actress Rila Fukushima

Seems like the makers of the live-action adaptation of 'Ghost in the Shell' are engaged in serious overhaul after being hit with the whitewashing controversy. Following this racial stir, Japanese actress Rila Fukushima is all set to join the cast of the movie which is an adaptation of the classic manga, reports Independent.

While the movie has been under a lot of fire for signing actress Scarlett Johansson as protagonist 'Major Motoko Kusanagi', it is believed that casting 'Katana' from the 'Arrow' is a tactical move to balance out the allegations of propagating racial prejudices.
As Fukushima is an accepted Asian face in America, it is highly anticipated that she wouldn't be consigned to a minor role.
