The West, especially Hollywood, has been in love with the vibrant, ethnic feel of Rajasthan, with many films being shot here. The acclaimed 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel', featuring a stellar Hollywood cast including Dev Patel, is one of many recent high-profile examples.
But the state’s fame doesn’t end there. German filmmaker Michael Karren is the latest – he and his entire cast and crew are shooting for his film The Girl And The Indian Emerald in and around Jaipur these days.

After a week of shooting in the historical Samode Palace, he shot some scenes in the old streets of Jaipur. “India and its architectural beauty form the backdrop of the film. And the director has just fallen in love with its grandeur,” says Hemant Sharma, who is playing an Indian architect in the film. According to him, “The lead role is being played by German actress Stephanie Stump. The shoot will continue for two weeks.”
