Eric Bana talks unlikely return as Hulk in multiverse movie
Eric Bana, who portrayed Bruce Banner in the original 2003 Hulk movie, recently discussed the possibility of reprising his role in a multiverse-style film akin to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
When asked about the possibility of joining Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo's portrayals of Bruce Banner in a multiverse movie, Bana responded that he couldn't see it. He couldn't see it. Despite still possessing the physique for the role, Bana joked about the potential for CGI and humorously mentioned the use of steroids to achieve the desired look.
The original Hulk movie, directed by Ang Lee, debuted in 2003 and featured Bana as Bruce Banner, who transforms into the green-skinned monster whenever provoked. Despite initial plans for a sequel, the project never materialized, leading to a reboot with Edward Norton in 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Norton's portrayal was later succeeded by Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
While rumors persist about a potential solo Hulk film featuring Ruffalo, no official confirmation has been made. The journey of the Hulk character in film has seen multiple actors take on the role, with each iteration contributing to the character's evolution within the MCU.
Hulk also starred Sam Elliott, Jennifer Connelly, and Nick Nolte, alongside cameos from Stan Lee and original Incredible Hulk actor Lou Ferrigno. Despite the absence of a sequel to Bana's Hulk, the character has endured various cinematic interpretations, reflecting the complex nature of Bruce Banner's struggle with his alter ego.
As discussions about multiverse narratives continue to captivate audiences, Bana's perspective sheds light on the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the potential return of past iterations of iconic characters in modern cinematic universes.
