Emmy-award winning art director Jan Scott dies

LOS ANGELES: Art director and production designer Jan Scott, who won 11 Emmy television awards, has died. She was 88.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">LOS ANGELES: Art director and production designer Jan Scott, who won 11 Emmy television awards, has died. She was 88.<br /><br />Scott, who won more Emmys than any other woman, died on Thursday at her Hollywood Hills home. She had been ill for several months.<br /><br />Scott began working in television in the 1950s.

Her first Emmy award came in 1968 for her work as an art director for "Kismet" which appeared on ABC. Her last Emmy was awarded in 1989 for <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">I''ll Be Home for Christmas</span>, on NBC. She was last nominated in 1996.<br /><br />She won Emmys for <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Eleanor and Franklin</span> and for <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years</span>. She also worked in feature films and was production designer for <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Rich and Famous</span>, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The World of Henry Orient</span> and <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Grandview U.S.A</span>.<br /><br />Scott got her start in production design as a carpenter and painter at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She was a trustee and a member of the executive board of the Art Directors Guild at the time of her death. In 2001, she was awarded the guild''s Lifetime Achievement Award. </div> </div>
