Emma Watson on her 6-month driving ban: ‘Harry Potter’ star says, ‘My shame is everywhere..’
Earlier this year, Emma Watson was put on a 6-month driving ban after she was reported to the authorities over a speeding incident in Oxford. Recently, the actress got candid about the issue and talked about her experience.
She revealed that she also took the situation more humorously and shared how, while there was a lot of media coverage on the matter, there were also people who were contacting her and sharing her woes as well. Many people texted and reached out to the actress, sharing that she was not the only one who had to undergo such a driving ban over speeding in London.
This massively affected her schedule and day-to-day living when she took a hiatus from acting. “When you have worked on movies — I don’t know if people know this — they literally will not insure you to drive yourself to work. I’ve asked so many times. You have to be driven. It’s not a choice. Especially because they need you there down to the minute, basically, depending on what they have going on," the ‘Harry Potter’ actress revealed.
Emma Watson calls the incident shameful
The star was a guest on Jay Shetty’s podcast recently and opened up about the incident, calling it ‘shameful’. She stated, “I recently started riding a bicycle, and yes, I started riding a bicycle before my driving ban, but now it’s particularly fortuitous that I also ride a bicycle, for that reason, but that was mainstream news. I was getting phone calls like it’s on the BBC. It’s on international worldwide news. I was like, my shame is everywhere.”She revealed that she also took the situation more humorously and shared how, while there was a lot of media coverage on the matter, there were also people who were contacting her and sharing her woes as well. Many people texted and reached out to the actress, sharing that she was not the only one who had to undergo such a driving ban over speeding in London.
Actors are not allowed to drive themselves
The actress had been on an acting break for quite some time now, and revealed how she went from driving occasionally to having to drive herself almost everywhere all the time. She stated that actors are usually driven from one place to another and literally aren’t “allowed” to drive themselves. This massively affected her schedule and day-to-day living when she took a hiatus from acting. “When you have worked on movies — I don’t know if people know this — they literally will not insure you to drive yourself to work.
