Emily Blunt has long maintained that Tom Cruise, her co-star in the 2014 film, Edge of Tomorrow has always been “a dear friend and a total gem.”
She remembers a time when she was stuck during a shooting of one of the scenes in the film and was just unable to give her takes. Cruise popped up beside her and quipped, “Come on, stop being such a pussy, Ok?”
Emily said she laughed at that matter of fact statement, but that helped her to get on with the filming. In a statement to People Magazine, published yesterday, Emily says that her words were used out of context by various media publications and some of her fans and it was implied that she was terribly offended by Cruise’s words.
She clarifies that it was a light-hearted comment and it is something that Tom and she laugh together about to this day. She remembered the scene which had left her in a quandary back then. The scene required them to wear some 85 pounds of an enormous robot armor and weapons suit. She recalls it was very heavy and says, “The first time I put it on, I just started to cry…in front of Tom and he did not know what to do.”
Emily said that Cruise’s straightforward buddy-like advice to her helped her to relax, laugh and get on with shooting.
