Talking about playing the Joker, Leto said that he was extremely happy about getting an opportunity to play the character that had been discussed so much over the years. He added that he took up the role as a challenge given that it had already been played by a number of actors before him.

Apart from that, Leto also spoke about a rumour that had been swirling around for years – that he gave his co-star, Margot, a dead rat while he was preparing for his role in the film.
