'Dhurandhar 2' and 'Toxic' clash: Ryan Gosling's 'Project Hail Mary’ postpones India release; film eyes April release: Reports
Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar 2' and Yash's 'Toxic' may be gearing up for one of the biggest clashes in Indian box office history, but one film bowing out of the epic clash, is Ryan Gosling's 'Project Hail Mary'.
As per the latest reports, the film, starring Gosling in the lead, was initially set for a Mark 20 release. However, with the impending clash, the film has now postponed its release by two weeks in India. Thus, while the rest of the world watches the film on the 20th, Indian fans awaiting the release, will have to wait for two weeks, until April 3, 2026 to watch the critically acclaimed film.
Why 'Project Hail Mary' is delaying film
As per reports, trade experts indicate that the decision to postpone the rlease was driven by screen allocation pressures. Both 'Toxic' and 'Dhurandhar 2', releasing on March 19, are expected to dominate premium large formats, including IMAX and Dolby screens across the country.
Project Hail Mary, which has been filmed for IMAX exhibition, would have faced limited access to the high-end screening formats had it released alongside the two big-ticket Indian titles.
About 'Project Hail Mary'
As per the film's official synopsis, 'Project Hail Mary' is based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, which follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a lone astronaut, who awakens aboard a mysterious spacecraft with no memory of his mission - or his identity.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film also stars Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, James Ortiz, Milana Vayntrub and Priya Kansara. The film marks the second adaptation of an Andy Weir novel after 'The Martian', which starred Matt Damon.
'Dhurandhar 2' vs 'Toxic'
