Dev Patel's journey into porn world

SlumdogMillionaire star Dev Patel has signed his next film, an indie drama titledCherry, based on the porn industry. The film also stars James Franco and HeatherGraham.
Says a source, “Dev and James will play parallel leads. The film takes a close look at the thriving business of X-ratedcinema in the US. The film is an emotional drama centering around a troubled18-year old girl called Cherry, who moves to San Francisco and gets involvedwith pornography and a cocaine-addicted lawyer (Franco).It is being directed bydebutant director Stephen Elliott. Cherry is played by newbie Ashlee Hinshaw.Dev plays Cherry’s love interest. This will be James’s next releaseafter the recent Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Heather plays a formerpornstar-turned-adult film director who becomes obsessed withCherry.”
A top Hollywood source reveals, “Elliott wasquite sure of casting Dev, and after a screen test formality he knew hedidn’t have to look any further.” Interestingly, the co-writer ofthe film, Lorelei Lee, is a former porn star and an outspoken advocate for sexworkers. She is even pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at New YorkUniversity.
Meanwhile, Patel has recently finished shooting for TheBest Exotic Marigold Hotel, which he shot for extensively in Rajasthan with DameJudy Dench and Maggie Smith.
