'Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction' anime drops new teaser, poster

The anticipation surrounding the two-part anime adaptation of Inio Asano's Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction manga reached new heights as the official Twitter account unveiled a tantalizing teaser and a fresh poster for the initial film in this highly awaited project.

Bringing a fusion of talent, the vocal prowess of YOASOBI singer Lilas Ikuta, known as "Ikura," will breathe life into the main character, Kadode Koyama. Joining the stellar cast is ano, set to voice the equally central figure, Ouran "Ontan" Nakagawa.

The ensemble of voices extends further with Atsumi Tanezaki as Kiho Kurihara, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Ai Demoto, Saeko Ooki as Rin Hirama, Azumi Waki as Futaba Takemoto, Ryoko Shiraishi as Makoto Tainuma, Miyu Irino as Keita Ōba, Kouki Uchiyama as Kenichi Kohiruimaki, Taito Ban as Naoki Watarase, Junichi Suwabe as Hiroshi Nakagawa, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Nobuo Koyama.

Nobutake Ito lends his artistic touch as the character designer and chief animation director, with Mika Nishimura as the art director and Taro Umebayashi composing the music.

At the core of this narrative lies the peculiar daily life of Kadode Koyama, an ostensibly ordinary high school girl, her companion Ouran Nakagawa, and their cohorts, all navigating a world shadowed by the appearance of a colossal mothership hovering over Tokyo.

Asano's series embarked on its journey in April 2014 within the pages of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits. Despite intermittent hiatuses, the manga concluded in February 2022, culminating in the release of its 12th and final volume in March 2022.

The manga's impact reverberated beyond its pages, spawning a 3D animated promotional video in September 2020. Its accolades include the Best General Manga award at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards in January 2021 and recognition in the manga category at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in 2022.
