DC Studios 2026 slate: A diverse lineup from ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Lanterns’ to ‘Clayface’
Summer 2026 is shaping up to be monumental for DC Studios, with the simultaneous release of 'Supergirl' and 'Batman: Knightfall Part 1' in June, marking a fresh chapter since James Gunn and Peter Safran took the helm. This unprecedented summer slate not only promises thrilling escapades but also includes 'Lanterns' and the eerie horror film 'Clayface'.
The studio is heading into its busiest stretch yet this summer, with two films arriving in the same month for the first time since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over in 2022. ‘Supergirl’ opens in theaters on June 26, while ‘Batman: Knightfall Part 1’ premieres the same week at the Annecy Film Festival, scheduled for June 21 to June 27. The milestone comes after a rollout that began with ‘Creature Commandos,’ continued with ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, and reached theaters with ‘Superman’ in July 2025.

‘Supergirl’ and ‘Batman: Knightfall Part 1’ release dates

According to The Direct, the studio and Warner Bros. Animation announced the Annecy debut of ‘Batman: Knightfall Part 1,’ while HBO Max, Prime Video, and Adult Swim also feature prominently in the wider 2026 lineup. The report says June 2026 is the first time two DC films have arrived in the same month since the establishment of DC Studios proper. It adds that this record applies only to Gunn’s tenure. Before the November 2022 rebrand, ‘Black Adam’ and ‘Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons’ were released in October 2022, followed by ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham’ in March 2023.

‘Lanterns,’ ‘Clayface,’ and 2026 TV and movie lineup

‘Supergirl’ follows Kara on an intergalactic road trip as she protects Ruthye, played by Eve Ridley, while dealing with the loss of Krypton.
‘Batman: Knightfall’ follows Bane as he frees Batman’s rogues gallery from Arkham Asylum and pushes the Dark Knight to his physical and mental breaking point. In August, ‘Lanterns’ arrives as the year’s first HBO Max original series from the universe. The show comes from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart in a Nebraska murder case tied to a cosmic mystery. The 2026 slate also includes ‘Clayface,’ the first villain-led film and first horror title in this universe. Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, while Naomi Ackie plays Dr. Caitlin Bates, described as an Elizabeth Holmes-type: charismatic, dangerous, and operating far outside any ethical guardrail. The film wrapped in Liverpool in October 2025 and shifted from September 11 to October 23. Elsewhere, ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Season 2 remains on track for 2026 at Prime Video, while ‘My Adventures with Superman’ Season 3 returns with Kara Zor-El, Lex Luthor, Cyborg Superman, and Superboy.
