Celebs' bodily fluids based perfume a new trend?
Gone are the days when a perfume could transport you to a rose garden or fields of lavender. In those days, perfume was only aspirational, which meant that when you picked up a scent, you would envelop yourself in the favourite vapours of your favourite movie star.
It could be Britney’s signature style that you wanted to capture, J Lo’s sweet perfume or Sarah Jessica Parker’s chic scent, but whatever you chose, you knew you would be channeling your movie idols for a day.

Today perfume makers are going one step further and creating perfumes made of the body scent of the star. It has been reported for instance, that “Lady Gaga has sampled her bodily fluids while creating a fragrance” and the scent is a huge hit in the US. Sources close to Gaga say that the pop star has requested the “smell of blood and semen” and wants it to be based on her own body scent.
The iconic star is always doing the unusual, for instance, who can forget the meat dress she wore to an award’s function. Now, her new perfume is totally unlike her contemporaries or the celebrities before her, who wanted their fragrances to matches the scents they loved best. She has chosen bodily fluids instead of fruity florals and this might be the way all Hollywood biggies will go henceforth.
Perfume makers are launching into the trend in a big way, whether it is using the smell of warm skin, sweat, saliva and more to make newer fragrances. Will there be takers for such perfumes? For sheer novelty value, especially for those who are tired of the scents of musk, flowers and fruit, the trend might make ways. Otherwise, it will be another fad that will dissolve into vapour some years down the line.
