Cate Blanchett acknowledges her newfound status as a lesbian icon, says, “Yeah, cool, I’ll take it”

When various queer publications referred to Cate Blanchett's Tár character as a "lesbian icon," she responded amicably. Cate said that the importance of the film is not on the character's sexuality, but about her status as someone who holds a position of power in the artistic world.
Cate Blanchett has a cool and rebellious response to her being dubbed as a queer representative in the Golden Globe winning film Tar, says, “Yeah, cool, I’ll take it.”
The film Tar has got excellent recognition, going on to win three awards, including Best Drama Motion Picture, Screenplay of a Motion Picture and the Best Actress Award.
Cate also accepted a Best Actress gong from the Critics Choice Association in Los Angeles on Sunday.
In the film, Cate portrays a music conductor named Lydia Tár, whose career takes a sharp turn for the worse after a number of charges are made public.
The Academy Award-winning actor is also expected to be nominated for an eighth time at the 95th Academy Awards that will take place later this year, on March 12, 2023.
Finally, Cate expressed that playing the conductor, Lydia Tar, is a once in a career opportunity and she is glad she took it.
