Brooke Mueller has checked into rehab.
The reality TV star - who has two-year-old twin sons Bob and Max with ex-husband Charlie Sheen - has taken the "big step" of entering a residential facility at an undisclosed US location in the hope of finally conquering her drug addiction for good.
A source said: "This was a very big step for Brooke to take. She has resisted entering a residential facility because she didn't want to be away from her sons.Brooke did complete several outpatient programs in the past six months, but she would quickly relapse. Brooke finally realised she had to check in for intense treatment."
Brooke had planned to undergo a controversial drug treatment in Cancun, Mexico, where addicts are given the hallucinogen Ibogaine - which is illegal in the US - to curb cravings.
However, after rowing with a flight attendant and getting off a flight before it took off, she then missed a second plane when she lost her passport and took the incidents as a "sign" not to try the unconventional therapy.
The insider added to RadarOnline.com: She was convinced that was a sign to not go to Mexico. Brooke was aware that Ibogaine is a very dangerous drug to take, and could potentially do more harm than good for her."
