A moving tribute was paid to the deceased One Direction performer Liam Payne, who passed away tragically in October 2024. The host Jack Whitehall led the tribute, described him as a "supremely talented musician" and "incredibly nice man."
"It is now time to take a moment to remember a very special person who meant so much to many of the people in this room, and to millions of you around the world," Whitehall shared.
"Last October, we woke to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away," he added.
Whitehall's heartfelt introduction paved the way for an emotional video montage honouring Payne's life and career. The tribute featured Payne's incredible journey, with pictures from his childhood, intimate family moments, and his success on ‘The X Factor.’ Footage of One Direction's meteoric ascension, intercut with their seven Brit Award victories, evoked feelings as their hit track ‘Little Things’ played in the background. The montage had a clip that featured Liam singing his version of ‘Little Things,’ reminding fans of his voice. The moving video included a photo of Payne greeting Queen Elizabeth II, highlighting the heights he had attained in his life.
The video feature Liam saying, "We thought something could happen, but never anything like this. I'm always trying to remind myself where I've been, where I've been able to get in my life. It's amazing, really."
Payne's fame started with ‘The X Factor,’ where he teamed up with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson to become One Direction. The group turned into an international sensation, capturing hearts all around the world. After One Direction's hiatus, Payne began a successful solo career, and in December 2019, he released his debut album LP1. LP1 included popular tracks such as ‘Polaroid,’ ‘Strip That Down’ with Quavo, and ‘For You’ with Rita Ora, establishing him as a successful solo artist.
