, acclaimed for directing four hugely popular James Bond films and raising the profile of the Bond movie brand through his work with actors like Sean Connery and Roger Moore, has died at the age of 93 in a hospital on the Spanish island of Mallorca, say reports.

Hamilton worked with Sean Connery on 'Goldfinger' and 'Diamonds are Forever' besides directing Roger Moore in 'Live and Let Die' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun', reports IndianExpress.com. Moore paid tribute to Hamilton on Twitter. He tweeted, 'Incredibly, incredibly saddened to hear the wonderful director Guy Hamilton has gone to the great cutting room in the sky. 2016 is horrid.'



Apart from Bond films, Hamilton was the one behind films like Michael Caine-starrer 'Battle of Britain', 'Funeral in Berlin', 'Force 10' and Agatha Christie adaptations ' 'The Mirror Crack'd' and 'Evil Under the Sun'.
