Billy Joel recovers after the fall during Connecticut concert

Billy Joel, the ‘Piano Man,’ experienced a ground-shaking moment when he fell backward on the stage after he threw the microphone stand towards the crowd and stumbled while taking a turn. The ‘Uptown Girl’ was playing his 1980s hit “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” in his concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut on February 22, 2025.

After a few moments, Joel, the 75-year-old singer, repositioned and picked himself up, and the crowd responded positively by cheering him on, according to People. The clip of the fall went viral on social media, gaining concerning responses from his fans.

The rest of Joel’s set continued after the fall, including his superhits 'Big Shot' and 'You May Be Right.' His concerts usually include fan-favorite classics such as 'Piano Man,' 'Movin' Out (Anthony's Song),' and 'Vienna.'

Meanwhile, the singer is reportedly set to make history by performing at all three major stadiums of New York City which include - Yankee Stadium, MetLife Stadium, and Citi Field Stadium, according to ANI. In a statement to Billboard, Joel expressed his excitement, “I’m looking forward to playing these iconic stadiums this summer — each holds personal significance to me.” Further, he continued, “There’s nothing like the energy of the crowds in New York, and sharing a stage with my friends, Rod Stewart, Sting and Stevie Nicks, whose music always inspires me, is extremely rewarding.”

According to The New York Daily News, the ‘Just The Way You Are’ singer will record performances at both Yankee Stadiums—the old One, which closed in 2008, and the new One, which opened in 2009.

Additionally, Joel is scheduled to perform his first concert in over a decade in Toronto at Rogers Centre on March 15.
