André Holland and Zazie Beetz’s ‘The Dutchman’ set to release on THIS date: Report

The official release date for ‘The Dutchman’ has finally been confirmed! The feature, directed by none other than Andre Gaines, has been generating a lot of buzz in the market. Not only that, but fans had also been wondering about when the film will officially release in theatres as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘The Dutchman’, which has been directed by Andre Gaines and stars André Holland, Zazie Beetz, and many others, will hit theatres on January 2, 2026. The film is a direct adaptation of the 1964 Obie Award-winning Amiri Baraka’s play of the same name.

Premise of ‘The Dutchman’

The premise of the film lies in the life of a popular and successful businessman, Clay, who is troubled by his life. He even attends regular therapy sessions along with his wife, Kaya. While he’s attempting to get back on track, the businessman discovers that the therapist’s ways of treating them are rather unconventional. Not only that, but things take a massive turn in his life when he ends up meeting someone. One day, while taking the New York City subway train, he ends up bumping into Lula, which starts to unravel and change things in his life.

Cast of ‘The Dutchman’

The film stars actor André Holland, Zazie Beetz, as well as Kate Mara in the film’s lead roles. They are also joined by Lenny Platt, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Aldis Hodge, and Lauren E. Banks.

Andre Gaines, who is best known for ‘The Lady and the Dale’, ‘The Immortal Warrior’, and ‘Children of the Corn’, co-wrote the script along with Qasim Basir. The film was initially confirmed in 2023, after which it was in production for the past two years.

In a statement released online, Gaines expressed his excitement about the film. After praising his colleagues as well as the production label, the director further added, “Bringing The Dutchman to theaters nationwide is not just a dream come true — it’s an opportunity for audiences to engage with a story that demands to be felt, enjoyed, and discussed.”
